Yoga on the Beach
During the morning, certain local studios hold an hour-long yoga session on the beach, May through September. Great for all levels of practice – the instructor will help guide you through a continuous flow of poses. Imagine the sound of the gentle waves lapping onshore and the smell and feel of the soft ocean breeze as you focus on synchronizing your breath to your postures. Sound peaceful? Grab a beach towel and head down to the beach for a morning yoga flow!

There are plenty of places to rent bikes along the Grand Strand and take advantage of the flat coastal terrain. Enjoy biking along the boulevard or the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk. Or take the scenic route up the coastline and experience pedaling along in the sand, with the ocean breeze blowing by. Whatever path you choose, biking in the early morning means milder temperatures and fewer crowds – both making for a more enjoyable ride!
Kayak or Stand-Up Paddleboarding
Discover the wildlife of the quiet Inlet or glide along the glassy waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Usually the sea is calmer in the morning, making it easier to paddle. For a comfortable way to explore the water, rent a kayak. If you’re looking to step outside your comfort zone and experience one of the fastest growing watersports – try out Stand-up Paddleboarding! Various companies around the beach, including Kokopelli Surf Camp, Jack’s Surf Lessons, Great Escape Kayak Expeditions, have both watercrafts available to rent, as well as offer guided expeditions of the Inlet or ocean.
Walk or Jog
Lace up your running shoes and head out for a sunrise jog along the beach. Or if you’re into waking up at a slower pace, grab a Starbucks coffee at any of the following resort locations, including Bay View, Breakers, Long Bay, Compass Cove or Caribbean. Sip and stroll along the shoreline as look for seashells. Whether you’re running or walking, going in the early morning means enjoying the peacefulness of the crashing waves – and less sandcastles to dodge!
