April Events in Myrtle Beach

Spring is here and the warm weather means plenty of outdoor festivals and time spent on the beach. Whether you’re enjoying riding rides at the Horry County Fair, shopping at the Sidewalk sale, or dining with the Easter Bunny – there are plenty of events to enjoy in the month of April around Myrtle Beach. April 1: Baconfest 2017
Location: House of Blues
If you’re a bacon lover, you don’t want to miss the 2nd Annual Baconfest taking place on the Deck at the House of Blues. There will be plenty of samples of various types of bacon from local restaurants, drink specials and live music by the band Tru Sol. The admission is free and tickets for sampling are a dollar each.

April 1: Food Truck Festival
Location: 8th and 9th Avenue by the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
There will be more than the smell of salt air wafting around Ocean Boulevard on April 1st. No, this isn’t an April Fools joke – there will be food trucks selling everything from pizza, barbecue, southern cooking to kettle corn, Italian ice and alcohol-infused popsicles. The event takes place from 11 am to 7 pm and there will be a Cornhole tournament, as well as live music throughout the entire day from bands including Brad Long, Paul Grimshaw Band and Tru Sol. Pack your beach towel and your appetite!

April 6: Sweetwater Brewing Company Mural Painting Party
Location: House of Blues
Bring your creativity as you can participate in painting the mural for Sweetwater Brewing Company on the Deck at the House of Blues! They will be serving $4 Sweetwater craft beer along with food and drink specials. Relax by the fire pit on the Deck to the sounds of the band Bangarang from 7 to 11 pm.

April 8: Sidewalk Sale
Location: The Market Common
From 10 am to 9 pm, various stores in The Market Common will be featuring sale items inside and outside their stores. The local country radio station Gator 107.9 will be broadcasting live in front of City Mac on Howard Avenue from 12 pm to 2 pm – so be sure to stop by so you can enter for a chance to win tickets to the 2017 Carolina Country Music Fest.

April 7-16: Horry County Fair
Location: The Myrtle Beach Speedway
There will be more than just rides and crazy fried food at the Horry County Fair! Expect to wander through a Butterfly Exhibit, interact with animals in the Petting Zoo, watch racing pigs and play lots of games for chances to win prizes. There will be live music and entertainment and much more! And if you head out to the Myrtle Beach Speedway you can try out the NASCAR Racing Experience and drive or ride along in a real NASCAR.

April 8: Blues & Jazz Festival
Location: La Belle Amie Vineyards
Get ready to enjoy an afternoon of sipping wine while listening to the sweet sounds of jazz music. The cost is $8 and the event takes place from 12 pm to 5 pm; bring a canned food item and your ticket cost is only $5.

April 8: Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Location: Tupelo Honey Café
There won’t be carrot pancakes served but the Easter bunny is making an appearance at Tupelo Honey Café in The Market Common on April 8th. Bring your little ones at 9 am so they can enjoy breakfast with the Easter Bunny himself. The cost is $10 per person (free for kids 3 and under) and includes coffee, soft drinks, juice or milk. April 8-10: Monday After the Masters
Location: North Myrtle Beach
This is one of the top Celebrity Pro-Ams in the country and it takes place right here in Myrtle Beach! This charity golf event was started by the local South Carolina band Hootie & the Blowfish and has generated millions of dollars for children’s educational programs and the South Carolina junior golf program. New to the 2017 event will be a Hootie Ball Drop where you purchase a ball with a number on it and then a helicopter flies over a target, dropping the purchased balls and the one closest to the target wins a prize! April 15: Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
Location: Gordon Biersch
Hop over to Gordon Biersch at The Market Common with your kids at 9 am on for breakfast with the Easter Bunny. The cost is $10 per person (free for kids 3 and under) and includes coffee, soft drinks, juice or milk. April 15-16: Art in the Park
Location: Chapin Park in Myrtle Beach
This is a fine arts and craft show hosted by the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild with booth set up around Chapin Park displaying beautiful works of art. This is a family friendly event, with a children’s playground available for your kids to enjoy while you meander through the booths filled with art.

April 19-22: Myrtle Beach International Film Festival
Location: The Market Common
The Market Common is the new home to the 12th Annual Myrtle Beach International Film Festival, which will take place April 19th to 22nd. This is a huge honor considering this is an award winning festival and features sixty-three features, documentaries and shorts during the afternoons and evenings during this four-day event. Bring the family on Saturday afternoons, as those films are more kid friendly. The movies will be shown in the Grand 14 Cinema, so grab some popcorn and get ready to watch some amazing films. April 21-30: SOS Spring Safari
Location: North Myrtle Beach
Pack your shagging shoes and get ready for a week filled with fun, music and dancing. Each year, this spring shagging event hosted by the SOS brings in thousands of shaggers from all along the east coast. There will be live music and drink specials at bars located all along Main Street in North Myrtle Beach. The Parade will take place on April 29th at 1 pm.

April 22-23: Art in the Park
Location: The Market Common
Once again the Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild will set up various booth filled with art for this fine arts and craft show. The event will take place at Valor Park in The Market Common.

April 24-29: Singing in the Sun
Location: Myrtle Beach Convention Center
This is a six day event takes place at the Myrtle Beach Convention center and includes some of Gospel music’s top artists and world renown speakers. Some of our hotels are conveniently located close by the event, so you can enjoy a top-notch oceanfront stay as well as some amazing Gospel music.

April 29: Dragon Boat Race
Location: The Market Common
The Dragon boat festival, taking place from 8 am to 5 pm, is hosted by Ground Zero and is an event that helps raise funds for Ground Zero, a non-profit committed to making a positive impact on the lives of local teenagers. The dragon boat races is a lot of fun to watch, as boats filled with twenty paddlers and one drummer paddle as fast as they can, competing with other boasts to see who finishes the race in the fastest time. April 29: Toast of the Coast
Location: House of Blues
The 10th Annual Taste of the Coast will take place on the Deck at the House of Blues from 11 am to 4 pm on April 29th. There will be live entertainment, food tastings from local area restaurants as well as awards and drink specials. April 29: Earth Day Music Fest and Diabetes 5K
Location: The Myrtle Beach Speedway
Bring the whole family for this running and walking event that raises funds for Diabetes and benefits The Wellness Council for SC. The Diabetes 5K will take place Saturday morning April 29th at 8 am. Then afterwards stick around for the 10th Annual Earth Day Music Fest which will feature a health and wellness expo, various food trucks, entertainment for the kids and live music until 5 pm. Bring your running shoes and get ready to support a great cause!
