August Calendar of Events | Myrtle Beach

Can you believe that August is here? It’s hard to believe how quickly the summertime is going by! However, when you are in Myrtle Beach, it feels like summer all year long. There is plenty of Grand Strand events and festivals happening in August. If you are in town, be sure to check these out!

July 31-August 2: Craftsman Classic Arts & Crafts Show

If you’re into arts and crafts, then this event is something you won’t want to miss. Hundreds of talented artists come together and show off original designs to all who attend. Each artist takes the time to show how the creative process works and will give a demonstration of their masterpiece. It doesn’t matter what budget or style you have because there is something for everyone at this show. The event is held at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, and tickets are $8 for adults and $1 for children.

August 7-August 9: Tax-Free Weekend

Do you love shopping in Myrtle Beach? Come visit at the beginning of August and partake in the tax-free weekend. It’s the perfect time for back to school shopping with the kids or for treating yourself to something nice. There are many purchases available including clothing, footwear, accessories, computers, and school supplies. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Movies After Dark

Who wants to watch a movie by the beach? Bring the kids out on August 6th and 13th at 9:00 p.m for Movies After Dark in Surfside Beach. The movies will be watched at Martin Park located on 499 Spanish Oak Drive. It’s recommended to bring out blankets, chairs, or whatever you are most comfortable relaxing on. The movies are free for everyone and concessions will be available for purchase.

August 15: Whole Lotta Shakin’ Oldies Festival

Calling all wine lovers! This event is for you. La Belle Amie Vineyard is hosting a fun-filled festival on August 15th starting at noon. Enjoy the festival with friends, music, wine and food. It’s a relaxing afternoon spent outdoors. The event costs $8 per person, and it is recommended to bring your blankets and lawn chairs. You can bring in two canned items for the food drive and take $3 off your ticket price!

August 1-August 31: Summerfest! at Barefoot Landing 

Summerfest at Barefoot Landing runs all summer long and is perfect for families and children. Walk along the boardwalk and see many entertainers like magicians, clowns, jugglers, unicyclists, comedians, and stilt walkers. Each night of the week features a different type of entertainment from kids karaoke, fireworks, meet and greets with superheroes, smooth jazz and more. The fun starts at 6:00 p.m each night!

Cool Summer Evenings

Journey down to Murrells Inlet to Brookgreen Gardens and enjoy Cool Summer Evenings. During August, there will be live entertainment Wednesday through Friday nights at the attraction.

Wednesdays and Fridays: All concerts are included with garden admission and are free to members of Brookgreen. Enjoy dinner at the Pavilion until 7:00 p.m. Don’t forget to bring a lawn chair or blanket to relax while watching the concert!

Thursdays: The fun begins at 5:00 p.m for families with the zoo staff hosting “Evening Bed Check with the Animals.” Stick around for more fun and head over to the Enchanted Storybook Forest for story time at 6:00 p.m. End the day taking a journey along the creek and hearing stories about pirates. Thursdays are perfect for young kids!
