August Events

August is when the summer starts to wrap up, but not before lots of fun is had in Myrtle Beach! There is live entertainment and music, festivals, and all sorts of family friendly fun.

August 8: Surfside Beach Pier Luau

The Surfside Beach Pier will be hosting its third annual luau! This event is family friendly and is open to people of all ages. The main event will be a live band called Coconut Groove who also performed last year. A hula and fire show will be part of the entertainment as well. The luau is a public event that has free admission. There will be food and concessions being sold during the event that are provided by the Surf Diner. For the kids, a play area with games, face painting, and many more activities will be available. This event runs from 6 pm to 9 pm.

 

August 17: Rock-n-Rumble Concert and Fireworks Show

Rock-n-Rumble is a free live show hosted on the Boardwalk down by 9th Avenue North. There will be various genres of music being played such as rock, country, jazz, pop, reggae, R&B, and funk. You are welcome to bring your own chairs and towels to sit back and enjoy the music. To end the night, there will be a fireworks show starting at 10:00 pm that can be seen along the Boardwalk and the promenade.

 

August 29: 33rd Annual World Amateur Handicap Golf Championship

Myrtle Beach will become host to almost 3,000 golfers that will be participating in the World Amateur Handicap Golf Championship. For those who love the game of golf, they are encouraged to enter. This event will be held at various courses across the Myrtle Beach area. Not only does it include 72 holes of competition but an 18 hole championship as well. There will be many gifts and prizes up for grabs along with nightly parties and entertainment.

 

August 19: Dogs Receive Free Admission at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans

Getting the family together to watch a Myrtle Beach Pelicans game is a great way to spend a warm summer night. It’s even better when you can bring your four legged friend. On August 19th , there will be free admission for dogs with the purchase of a Budweiser Thirst Inning Deck ticket. Take the whole family out to enjoy a night of baseball, concessions, and kid friendly fun!

 

August 6: Who’s Bad-Michael Jackson Experience

The House of Blues Myrtle Beach will be hosting the Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience. One of the most popular music venues in Myrtle Beach, this will be sure to be a packed event. The Who’s Bad tribute band is the longest running Michael Jackson tribute band around. They’ve been impressing fans of all ages for the past twelve years. Their team of dancers and singers are known for bringing energy and excitement to their performances while embodying everything that Michael Jackson was. Be sure to check them out as they make their next stop in Myrtle Beach.

 

August 6: Whole Lotta Shakin Oldies Music Fest at La Belle Amie

Located at the La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River, this music festival offers entertainment for the whole family. The festival features live music, tasty food, and fantastic wine. You are invited to bring your own chairs and blankets and enjoy music the whole afternoon. There is an admission fee of $8 but those under 18 and over 80 can enter for free. The vineyard does offer a $3 discount on tickets for those who bring in two canned food items.
