Tips on Planning a Healthy Myrtle Beach Vacation

Calories don’t count on vacation right? Kayak/SUP
It’s time to get out on the water and make your own adventure! Grab a kayak and explore the beautiful marsh of Murrells Inlet. If you’re up for more of a challenge, work your core and test your balance by stand up paddleboarding. Either way you choose to paddle around the water, you’re sure to have a blast while simultaneously getting in a great arm workout!

Golden Mile
There’s a stretch of Ocean Boulevard that runs oceanfront in a private residential area that’s known as ‘The Golden Mile’. Boasting spectacular views of the ocean and various workout zones, it’s the perfect place to jog, walk or ride a bike without having to mess with the sand.

Hike
While there aren’t towering mountains in Myrtle Beach, there are still a few hidden gems where you can discover coastal wildlife and go for a hike. Wander around the trails at Huntington Beach State Park and stop by the observation towers where you can view a variety of birds including herons, egrets and ospreys. Visit Myrtle Beach State Park and meader along one of their trails through the woodlands where you might find a few birds, reptiles, and amphibians that call that call the coast home. With all the exploring you’re doing – you’ll forget you’re even exercising!

Myrtle Beach Boardwalk & Promenade
One of the iconic spots in Myrtle Beach is also a perfect spot to be active. The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is a wooden boardwalk that winds around the oceanfront from 1st Avenue North all the way to 16th Avenue North. Along the way you’ll find various attractions and restaurants including Myrtle Beach SkyWheel, RipTydZ, The Bowery and more. It’s an ideal spot to go for a jog or walk with amazing views and a nice ocean breeze.

East Coast BrewBoat
Hop aboard for views and brews! You’ll get a workout in while you cruise around the calm waters of Murrells Inlet. The East Coast Brewboat offers a unique way to experience the inlet where guests power the boat by pedaling. You’re welcome to bring along your own alcoholic beverages, but if you’re trying to make it a healthy cruise, you may want to opt for sparkling water … with a splash of something extra. You’ll be smiling so much, your cheeks will be getting in a workout along with your legs!

Healthy Restaurants
Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you can’t eat healthy. Here are a few local Myrtle Beach restaurants that offer vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, and plain healthy dining options.

Kindbelly Cafe
Kindbelly Cafe is a small local restaurant that prides itself on utilizing locally sourced ingredients. Costa Bowls
Costa Bowls is known for their ‘Instagram-worthy’ acai bowls! You’ll find two locations, one in Market Common and another in Conway, serving up huge bowls of delicious and healthy goodness. Their acai and pitaya based bowls are topped with a variety of fresh ingredients including homemade peanut butter, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, pineapple, coconut flakes and local honey!
