SOS Mid-Winter Shag Classic

Murrells Inlet Soup Off

The new year is off to a tasty start at the 10th Annual Murrells Inlet Soup Off. Starting at 11 am, restaurants from all over the Grand Strand will be serving steaming pots of soup as they compete for an award. There are three different categories in the competition – meat, seafood and vegetable. There will be everything from your classic soup to some crazy family recipes. Live entertainment will begin at 6 pm featuring Akita, Sunny Ledford at 8 pm and Paperwork at 10 pm. All proceeds will benefit the Shriners Children’s Burn Center. Make sure to pack your appetite and get ready for a ‘soup-er’ time!

Women in Philanthropy and Leadership Conference
Location: Myrtle Beach Convention Center
Date: February 4 – 5, 2019
Women in Philanthropy and Leadership was formed in 2007 by Coastal Carolina University First Lady Terri DeCenzo along with faculty, staff and some of the area’s leading business professionals. WIPL strives to motivate and inspire women as leaders, donors and advocates. This event consists of listening to speakers and networking and has even brought in such leaders as Barbara Bush and sister Jenna Bush Hager. The 9th Annual WIPL Conference will feature speakers Carol Aebersold, award-winning co-author of Elf on the Shelf, Janice Howroyd, founder and CEO of ActOne Group, and Donna Orender, former WNBA commissioner and PGA Tour executive – to name a few. Annual Oyster Roast Fundraiser & Bloody Mary Challenge
Location: The Whiskey Fish, Murrells Inlet
Date: February 23, 2019
The Annual Oyster Roast Fundraiser & Bloody Mary Challenge will begin at 1 pm on February 23rd at the Whiskey Fish in Murrells Inlet. The afternoon will be full of oysters, sampling bloody marys, sipping local beer, wine and playing corn hole. There will be live entertainment will be provided by Miracle Max and the Pet Monsters. Advance tickets will be on sale for $25 per person and $30 day of the event. Come hungry because this event is sure to be a shuckin’ good time!

Myrtle Beach Marathon

Date: March 1 – 2, 2019
Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to run a marathon? Well you’re in luck because the 22nd running of the flattest and fastest races in South Carolina – the Myrtle Beach Marathon – is just around the corner! If you’re ready to add some miles to your running shoes – but not quite 26.2, don’t worry because the Myrtle Beach Marathon features three days of racing events. There’s a two-day Health & Wellness Expo, the Marathon Relay, the Half Marathon, and the 5K and Grande Dunes Family Fun Run. The course offers some gorgeous views of the ocean and there will be bands and djs playing to cheer you on at various mile markers. If you’re planning on running the Myrtle Beach Marathon – Brittain Resorts and Hotels has resorts in close proximity to the race. So pack your running shoes and get ready for a fun weekend!

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival
Location: Main Street, North Myrtle Beach
Date: March 15, 2019
Feeling lucky? Make plans to attend the 31st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade taking place on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach on Saturday, March 16th. The parade begins at 9 am and will be followed by an afternoon full of live music, entertainment and even a children’s area with rides and amusements. There will be over 150 vendors on Main Street selling everything from homemade crafts and paintings to treats. And yes – there will be plenty of green beer and Irish cuisine! Don’t forget to wear your green!
