TOP THINGS TO DO THIS FALL IN MYRTLE BEACH

Looking to make a fall getaway? The beach is not always first place you’d think to go in the autumn months, but it’s basically the second summer season for the Grand Strand. In the fall months we still enjoy warm temperatures on most days, yet it’s a little more comfortable than the dog days of summer. Myrtle Beach has truly become a year round destination with so much more to offer than just the beach. Of course, the good thing is, you CAN still enjoy the beach!

The off season gives visitors and locals alike the opportunity to explore other activities and attractions in the area that don’t necessarily require hot weather and sunshine. Depending on the type of getaway you are looking for, there are all kinds of options to pursue on a fall Myrtle Beach trip.

Romantic

If you’re looking to have a quiet, romantic trip with your significant other, consider making a visit to Brookgreen Gardens and taking in the beauty of the landscapes punctuated by their exquisite sculpture collection as well as nature, history and art exhibits. Enjoy a romantic dinner in one of the many fine dining restaurants in the area. Take a spin on the SkyWheel – Myrtle Beach in your own private gondola 200 feet above the lights and sights of Ocean Boulevard. More than likely, you’ll still be able to take a quiet walk down the beach as well…maybe even try and catch the sunrise over the ocean!

Family

No matter what time of year, Myrtle Beach is ALWAYS the place for family fun. Play a round of putt-putt at one of the many Myrtle Beach miniature golf spots, head downtown to Ocean Boulevard and play in one of the area’s original open-air arcades, or spend a day at Broadway at the Beach checking out WonderWorks or the new Simpson’s 4-D theater. In addition to the attractions, there are also plenty of shopping and dining experiences to be had at Broadway at the Beach! Of course, all of our Brittain Resorts hotels have indoor water attractions that can be enjoyed year-round and are always a good time for the entire family.

Golf

With more than 80 Myrtle Beach area golf courses to choose from, there is no shortage of options for getting out on the greens, and fall may just be the best time of year for it! Choose from award-winning courses catering to the experienced, expert golfer or maybe a Par 3 for the more novice player. Additionally, golfers of all levels can appreciate Myrtle Beach’s hottest new attraction, TopGolf. This facility offers 70 plus climate controlled hitting bays, a full-service restaurant with bar, and rooftop terrace with fire pit.

Food

Fall is definitely food season in Myrtle Beach! First of all, oysters are in season and you will have no problem finding a restaurant in the area serving up a good oyster roast or maybe even raw on the half shell, if you dare. Additionally, there are several food related fall festivals along the Grand Strand. The annual Greek Festival takes place October 17-20, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church and includes vendors serving up delicious, authentic Greek dishes. The Myrtle Beach Seafood Festival is held November 1-2, 2019 in the Downtown Boardwalk district located between 8th and 9th Avenues North, and the annual Taste of the Town is on November 5, 2019 at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. This event showcases a large sampling of the best eating establishments on the Grand Strand.

Relaxation

If relaxation is the purpose of your Myrtle Beach getaway, we have plenty for that! In fact, many relaxing activities can be achieved without even leaving your resort. First of all, just walk out onto your oceanfront balcony, gaze at the horizon, and listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean waves. Perhaps you’d just like to float aimlessly in one of the onsite lazy rivers or take a long soak in a hot tub. Maybe you’re looking to take your relaxation to a deeper level with a massage or other spa treatment. The Cinzia Spa at North Beach Plantation as well as Mist Spa at Carribean Resort offer a full menu of day spa services without even leaving the property, but there are also many other day spas located throughout the Grand Strand area offering everything from deep tissue massages and facials to medical spa treatments and procedures. Go ahead, pamper yourself!

Adventure

Looking for a little adventure in your stay? There are a few ropes course and zip line options in Myrtle Beach. Fly through the air at Myrtle Beach Zip Lines located on 9th Avenue N. or Radical Ropes Adventure Park located on 19th Avenue S. If you really want to get a bird’s eye view of the Grand Strand, try Helicopter Adventures for a helicopter tour of the Myrtle Beach coastline. Now, if you’re in search of a serious, bucket list type adventure, you have to check out T.I.G.E.R.S. Preserve – Myrtle Beach Safari. There are a few tour versions of this 50-acre wildlife preserve located just a few miles from Market Common! The preserve is home to a 9,000 pound African elephant named Bubbles as well as a rare 900 pound Liger (crossbreed of a lion and tiger) named Hercules. It’s truly a once in a lifetime experience with amazing photo opportunities!
